$wgSVGNativeRendering can be used now. NativeSvgHandler is no longer actively maintained.

I plan to look into this tonight, should be a fairly simple configuration change

That was a bug in MW core and appears regardless of whether you're using NativeSvgHandler or the core option.

Will fix when T38 is finished

Might look into this after the 1.44 upgrade but right now it’s fairly moot
